LGS’s Family Mediation Department works with separating couples to help them reach decisions about all issues affecting their break up, be it financial, practical or in respect of arrangements for children.
The mediation process is voluntary and confidential and allows couples to maintain control of the decision making process. It allows them to resolve issues in a constructive and non confrontational manner with the assistance of a Family mediator.
Here at Branton Bridge our Family mediator specializes in family work and helps couples discuss these issues helping them consider all their options. Our mediator will ensure all the information they need to make those decisions has been gathered and will ensure any proposals are realistic.
The Mediation process occurs by way of a series of meetings taking place with the mediator who will encourage the couples to be open and honest. The mediator is always impartial and once agreements are made the mediator will summarise the proposals and these can then be translated into legally binding agreements by a solicitor.
When lasting agreements are made as a result of mediation, the agreements are much more likely to succeed, this is because both parties have agreed to it voluntarily rather than it being imposed upon them. Mediation can therefore be significantly quicker and often avoids incurring expensive legal costs.
